Challenge
Take a cold, damp garden outhouse and create an interior where the sun always shines, . The bar had to double as a sports TV room and also as an afternoon entertaining space… as well as play host to family parties that could well go on all night!
Design Solution
We conjured a palette of pinks and blues – reflected from the surrounding garden – and created multiple light sources for that much-needed warmth and glow.
Process
Nine Lives stripped the floor and added living green walls to bring the outside in (and to neatly camouflage our clients’ dartboard & jukebox). Installing multiple light circuits, including industrial, custom-sized lettering with filament bulbs, ensured all dark corners were banished. We chose lightweight, movable furniture dressed with bold patterns to create texture, commissioned a bespoke leather ‘bench’ around the wood burner to ensure enough seating without cluttering the room, and added an outdoor WC, using a recycled toilet and basin from the main house for sustainability
